Alumina is the most well known ceramic material. ( Aluminum Oxide: Al2O3 )
Alumina has superior electric insulation, wear resistance and chemical stability.
And it has good heat resistance (1,500 °C) and plasma resistance.
The uses are precision machinery parts ( Vacuum chucks, line guides of electrical resistance), surface plates ( XY tables, Air slides) etc.
Zirconia is one of the most useful ceramic materials. ( Zirconium Oxide: ZrO2 )
Zirconia has superior mechanical strength and wear resistance. Its tenacity is 3-4 times that of alumina and it offers superior heat insulation.
The uses are block for heat insulation, guide spacer, nozzles, metal fittings, pump parts.
